Workshop runs July 10th, 2010 on Main Street in Bozeman
Class Lecture 2:00-4:00pm. Shooting from 5:30pm until it’s done (8:30?)

Hone your action photography skills at this dynamic seminar and hands-on shooting event as Tour de Bozeman blazes through Downtown. Main Street will be cordoned off in front of F-11 Photographic Supplies for a series of 300 meter bicycle match sprint races the evening of July10th. Sports action photographer and MSU Professor Jeffrey Conger will lead our seminar, capturing the excitement of the first Tour de Bozeman. Jeffrey photographs anything (some would say everything) on wheels, and is a regular contributor to well known publications including Hot Rod Magazine, Automobile, Rod & Custom, Classic Trucks and many more.

Official Event Link

During a two hour classroom session, Jeffrey will teach participants about timing a shot, making the most of natural light, shooting from creative angles, selecting shutter speeds, working a location and more. After the class time, hit the streets with Jeffrey and the staff of F-11 to shoot the races. Participant images will be posted to a Street Sprints website to share images with each other and with the riders.

Selected by I.D. Magazine as one of the top creative individuals in the country, Jeffrey Conger documents the gearhead life and hot rod culture. Specializing in action sports he has photographed anything with wheels. From dirt bikes to jet cars he can be found trackside or in the pits with his favorite digital camera and lens combination. A regular contributor to publishing icon Hot Rod Magazine since 2001, his candid photos and stories have also appeared on the pages of Automobile, Rod & Custom, Classic Trucks, American Rodder, Chevy Rumble and Corvette Enthusiast along with several European magazines. Currently Jeffrey lives in Bozeman with his family where he is a professor at Montana State University.

Things are gearing up for another stellar Tour de Bozeman in 2010. We’ve moved the race up two weekends on the calendar, to July 10-11. Our title sponsors – Bridger Orthopedic and Sports Medicine and First Interstate Bank are once again on board, along with a host of other local sponsors. A huge thanks to Bridger Orthopedics and First Interstate Bank for helping us put on such a great event! This year, we’re doing a timed event instead of an omnium. Top finishers in the Main Street Sprints will be awarded time bonuses. Please note that we’ve changed the race-day registration schedule from last year. Race-day registration on Saturday, July 10, will close at 9:30 a.m. Riders competing in the sprints must be registered by 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and much appreciated as it allows us to more easily organize the time trial start times and seed the sprints.

One more thing: Just like last year, riders who pre-register will have a chance to win a custom, handcrafted bike frame from Strong Frames. Strong Frames is a Bozeman-based custom frame company and winner of the 2009 North American Hamdmade Bicycle Show’s award for the best TIG welded frame.

Registration is open!
Mark your calendar for July 10th and 11th for the 2nd annual
